In Shadow of Mordor, Talion was OP but at least the game was fun. You're right though, Shadow of Mordor doesn't have any assault rifles to force stealth. I suppose the "assault rifles" in Shadow of War will be the captains. You'll probably have to find a way to eliminate guards without being spotted so the fight with the captain will be easier. Retailer Target has leaked details, box art and a release date for Middle Earth: Shadow of War, the sequel to 2014's Shadow of Mordor. Definitely play shadow of mordor first. Shadow of war is a sequel and builds on it. And to be honest shadow of war just isn't as good. The story is a little bit more disjointed the open world areas are smaller and less feature rich. The Shadow games are designed to be very clearly reminiscing of the movies (Sauron’s armor, the Flaming Eye, the look of Minas Morgul, etc.), so it’s safe to say that the games are meant to happen in the same timeline as the movies. Although, the new Amazon LotR series isn’t very likely to mention the Shadow games at all, and those are Family and almost everyone he knows gets slaughtered, gets murdered, posessed as a Revenant, betrayed, cheats death, fights and commits orc genocide for literal decades, reposessed as a full Nazgul, goes to war against everything he fought to protect, is finally allowed to die and rest in peace.
